St Albans Trapeze & Aerial Arts - Children’s Class Booking Terms

Last updated: September 2026

These terms apply to regular children’s group classes and trial sessions with St Albans Trapeze & Aerial Arts. By booking a place for your child, you agree to the terms below.

Term bookings and rebooking

Our regular children’s classes are booked and paid for by the term. Individual sessions cannot be booked separately.

Existing students are given priority booking for future terms before remaining spaces are offered to children on our waiting lists.

We normally send existing students booking information for the following two terms around halfway through the current term. This email will include a deadline by which you should book if you wish to retain your child’s place.

If you do not book by the stated deadline, we may offer the place to another child.

If your child does not wish to continue with us, please let us know as soon as possible. This helps us offer the space to another child and plan our classes and staffing for the following term.

Once a term has started, term bookings are non-refundable if a child chooses to stop attending. This does not affect any rights you may have where we cancel sessions or withdraw a child’s place.

Class size and staffing

Our regular children’s classes have a maximum class size of 10 students and are staffed by two instructors, giving a maximum ratio of one instructor to five children.

Classes may occasionally have fewer students, but we aim to maintain this staffing structure to provide appropriate supervision, support and spotting during aerial activities.

Missed classes and make-up sessions

We do not offer refunds for classes missed by a student.

However, where possible, we are happy to arrange a make-up session in another suitable class if a space becomes available because another student will be absent.

Make-up sessions therefore depend on both the availability of an appropriate class and other parents letting us know when their child will be absent. For this reason, we really appreciate being told in advance if your child cannot attend.

We cannot guarantee that a make-up session will be available. If we are unable to offer one, the missed session will be lost.

Make-up sessions have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for a refund.

Trial sessions

Trial sessions (£12 each) are booked separately from our termly classes. We currently only offer trial sessions when a space is available in a class as we have a maximum class size of 10.

A trial may be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours’ notice. Where a paid trial is cancelled within this period, a refund can be issued.

Trial sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, are non-refundable.

Following a trial, a regular class place is subject to availability and is not guaranteed unless confirmed by us.

If we cancel a class

If St Albans Trapeze & Aerial Arts has to cancel a children’s class, we will normally try to arrange a replacement session.

There may occasionally be circumstances outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, venue closures or other unexpected events, where arranging a replacement session is not possible.

We will contact affected parents or guardians as soon as reasonably possible when a class is cancelled or changed.

Age groups and class placement

The relevant age range for each children’s class is shown on the class listing.

Most of our children’s classes are mixed ability, allowing students to work at an appropriate level within the same class.

Our Intermediate/Advanced Teen classes have additional experience and ability requirements. Admission to these classes is at the discretion of our instructors.

Arriving late and warm-ups

The warm-up forms an important part of every class. Please make sure your child arrives in sufficient time to be ready for the advertised start time.

If your child arrives after the warm-up has begun, the instructor will decide whether it is safe for them to participate. Depending on how late they arrive and what has already been covered, they may not be permitted to join the class.

Where a child cannot participate because they have arrived too late to do so safely, we cannot offer a refund or replacement session.

Drop-off and collection

Parents and guardians do not need to remain at the venue during regular classes.

Children must be collected directly from the designated collection point or venue door at the end of their session. Please ensure that appropriate arrangements have been made for their collection.

Further information about drop-off, collection and the safeguarding of children attending our activities can be found in our Safeguarding Policy.

Watching classes

Parents and guardians are generally not permitted to remain in the room to watch regular children’s classes.

Parents may watch their child’s first trial session.

We may also invite parents to watch particular events such as showcases.

Where a child has additional needs, including anxiety or another circumstance that means having a parent or guardian present would help them participate safely and comfortably, please speak to us. We are happy to discuss reasonable arrangements on an individual basis.

PAR-Q, health and additional needs

A parent or guardian must complete our Children’s Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) before their child participates.

You are responsible for giving us accurate and relevant information about any health condition, injury, medication, disability, neurodivergence, additional need or other circumstance that may affect your child’s participation or the support they require.

Please let us know if any relevant information changes after the PAR-Q has been completed.

We will use this information to help our instructors support your child and make appropriate decisions about safe participation.

Safety and participation

Aerial arts and physical exercise involve inherent risks of injury, including bruises, friction burns, strains, sprains, falls and collisions. St Albans Trapeze & Aerial Arts takes reasonable measures to manage and reduce these risks, but they cannot be eliminated entirely.

Children must follow their instructor’s directions and the safety rules explained during class. They must not attempt skills, progressions, drops or other movements that they have been instructed not to perform.

An instructor may modify or stop a child’s participation in an activity where they reasonably believe this is necessary for the child’s safety or the safety of others.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Behaviour

We want our classes to be enjoyable and safe for everyone.

If a child’s behaviour becomes unsafe, seriously disruptive, or presents a risk to themselves, another student or an instructor, we may ask them to sit out of part of the session and will contact their parent or guardian where appropriate.

If unsafe or seriously disruptive behaviour continues over multiple sessions, we will discuss the situation with the child’s parent or guardian and try to identify whether any additional support or adjustments would help.

Where we ultimately believe that continuing in the class is not appropriate or safe, we may withdraw the child’s place. In this situation, we will refund the cost of any remaining unused sessions in the term.

Photography and video

Parents and guardians are asked separately whether they consent to photographs or videos of their child being used for St Albans Trapeze & Aerial Arts marketing, including our website and social media.

Choosing not to give photography or video consent will not affect your child’s ability to participate in our classes.

Parties and private lessons

These terms relate to regular children’s classes and trial sessions.

Children’s parties and private lessons are arranged separately and may be subject to different booking and cancellation arrangements. Please contact us for details.
